Hello/She:kon!

Learn more about what I do and what it’s like here at Skén:nen…

What is it like at Sken:nen?

I will always do my best to make things comfortable for you.

I have been in your shoes. I am a massage client and I learned what atmosphere my nervous system prefers.

My treatment room is spacious with calm forest colours, a warm wood pellet fireplace, Himalayan salt lamps and a change room of your own. The lights are low, the room is warm and the music is soothing.

My philosophy is if you want to help people with injuries, muscle tension, stress, sleep problems or anxiety/depression, you need to deal with the nervous system first.

So, my aim is to provide you with the therapeutic, clinical massage treatment help you might need,  in a soothing atmosphere.  I look forward to meeting you and helping you!

Sken:nen; (pronounced ‘Sga:nah’), a word in the Kanien’kéha (Mohawk) language for ‘peace’ or ‘serenity’. The language of my Haudenosaunee ancestors. What better way to describe how you will feel after a treatment…more peaceful.

The white pine tree with the eagle on top is very significant to Haudenosaunee people. It is a symbol of their peace agreement, ‘The Great Law of Peace’, that was established more than 500 years ago. They solidified their commitment by burying their weapons under a white pine tree. The eagle at the top is a direct connection to Creator and a protector of peace. The four roots at the bottom represent the four directions (East, West, South and North).

What is ‘Sken:nen’ and the symbolism of the tree?
